From the website of Padron Cigars, “The award winning 1926 serie premiered in 2002 to commemorate Jose O Padron’s 75th birthday. Continuing our tradition, this series is offered in a box-pressed format offering refined tobacco aged five to ten years, then blended to create an exceptionally smooth, complex, balanced full-bodied flavor. If the 1964 Anniversary is Padrón’s statement to the cigar world, the 1926 Serie is the family talking to themselves. Introduced in 2002 to mark José Orlando Padrón’s 75th birthday, the 1926 Serie takes everything the family learned from decades of growing, aging, and blending Nicaraguan tobacco and pushes it as far as it goes. Where the 1964 uses four-year-aged tobacco, the 1926 uses tobacco aged between five and ten years. That’s not a small difference. That extra time in the aging room transforms the tobacco in ways that show up immediately in the smoke.
The No. 9 is a 5.25×56 box-pressed robusto gordo that puts the full weight of that decade of patience into every draw. The sun-grown Habano wrapper is applied flawlessly over a Nicaraguan binder and filler that delivers dark chocolate, coffee, earth, cedar, and a sweet spice that builds and evolves from the first third all the way through a finish that just keeps going. Limited to 100,000 cigars annually, double-banded, individually numbered, and one of the most consistently 90+ rated cigars in the history of the hobby. This is the one you reach for when the occasion demands it and when it doesn’t but you want it to.

Bought one just to say I’ve smoked one. Very open draw with thick white smoke. Fairly even burn needing a few minor touch ups. Lots of flavor that started right at light up and remained throughout. Very good stick but it didn’t stand out as premium to me. I let it sit at 69rh for about 7 weeks before smoking.

I’ve had 2 and loved them both. I have come to appreciate the finer cigars when I get the chance to buy them. I will buy a box of these soon
