From the website of Padron Cigars, “The award winning 1926 serie premiered in 2002 to commemorate Jose O Padron’s 75th birthday. Continuing our tradition, this series is offered in a box-pressed format offering refined tobacco aged five to ten years, then blended to create an exceptionally smooth, complex, balanced full-bodied flavor. For protection, a double band with an individually numbered guarantee number is applied to every label to safeguard against counterfeiting.”

Today I’m smoking the 1926 Padron Maduro no. 6 robusto. This is my third cigar for the day so far. It’s a short pressed dark brown cigar that’s lumpy and bumpy. It looks as if it’s been in a car accident with all the imperfections. I picked this up from the B&M. For the price I just about expect a better looking stick and this one looks like a slept in bed. The “Cut and a light” kicked off some pretty serious black pepper. There’s leather for sure. A bit of coffee and a woodsy note. I want to say earth but there’s not enough there to really give it that accolade. Sorta short finish. The retro hale is a spicy black pepper. It has a lose draw. The smoke is dry but plentiful. Slow burning. Stealing second base the ash is still holding on. The burn isn’t perfect but isn’t requiring any attention. The retro hale has dropped the spice and become smoother. There’s a coco powder coming in and a mild sweetness on the pallet. A slight taste of cedar now in the aftertaste. The coffee has faded a bit. This is a really smooth cigar. It’s a medium body, with an equal strength, and nice flavor profile. Coming in third base the retro spice has picked back up. The sweetness has fallen off. The burn is very slightly uneven but I haven’t made any touch ups to it. Some coffee has survived. The smoke is cool, dry and unsweet. There’s an under the tongue bitterness like weak coffee sometimes give me, not bad though it’s actually very light. Over all it’s a really good cigar, I expected more from a Maduro wrapper, but it’s delivered a no complaints here status. Just smooth flavors that doesn’t really get mean in any category. My smoke times was an impressive one hour and twenty minutes for this short cigar. I think this is one I can toss into the 91 points range. I think that it should be in a toro size to justify the $20 price tag.
