A very fine quality cigar. Very smooth, woody, toasted flavours that improve as the cigar progresses. Chocolate and a subtle sweetness. I think this is similar to the V but very different at the same time. The Melanio has a moother more velvety textured smoke. Compared to the more defined and vibrant V.
I accidently hit 4 stars on my previous review submission, It should be 5 stars. Let it age in the humidor for a while and the flavors will become more pronounced and much tastier.
Ordered a box of 10, at first I didn't really care for it as I thought the flavors were kind of muted. I told myself I won't buy again, but, then on cigar #7 the flavors popped and was a totally different cigar. What changed? I changed my humidity from 69% to 64%, added extra cedar to my humidor (don't know if that made any difference) and they were in the humidor for at least 8-9 months. This time I only drank water and took my leisurely time with it. It was like smoking a totally different cigar. The first 6 smokes were grass, hay, and a bit of cedar, but was light on the flavor and just kinda ehhh. Now, the flavors are more intense - the cedar was much stronger, a lot of nice creamy chewy smoke, nuttiness, light pepper, and overall a great cigar. With the first 6 cigars I was done with it at the final third. But on #7, I smoked down till the nub burnt my fingers. What did I learn from this? They were all from the same box, so there shouldn't be much variation between the cigars themselves out of the box. So, I chalk it up to other variables that can really intensify the flavors (humidity levels, not eating or drinking anything that is flavored while smoking, and taste bud moods at the time of smoke). It blows my mind how much of a change there was in the cigar. This happened to me on other cigars as well.
Excellent stick. Thick & rich maduro flavor with hints of coffee and woodsy/earth.
Excellent construction and burn.
I wish all of Oliviaโs line up was like this.
If youโre not a fan of Oliva due to the one flavor note and never changing, I would still give this one a try.
Definitely more complex and nuanced that the regular series that Oliva puts out.
Always enjoyable and reliable quality.
Oliva Serie V Melanio is one of my all-time favs. An easy choice for a new-comer and a seasoned vet every time. Oliva consistently delivers good value for every name in their stable. Thanks for the Sampler Upgrade! I'm now a big fan of the Cain Daytona from that sampler also. Thanks for being a great online shop for all of us!
One of my favorites. Bought a box not too long ago and I definitely donโt regret it. Smooth with great flavors. Even burn, and great construction. Hints of pepper, nuts and cedar in the flavor profile with just the right amount of creaminess from the wrapper.
Excellent cigar!
I got myself a box and couldn't be happier. I like to pair it with a high quality bourbon and smoke it down to the nub. It has a perfect burn and smooth flavor.
It starts out good and ends great. Nice cedar taste and the retrohale is fantastic. Give it a try. I'd recommend you get a pack of 5 at least. Also give yourself at least an hour and a half
Great smoke, i took a chance and ordered a box due to all the positive things i have heard, i was not disappointed these are excellent for someone like me who is just getting into cigars and wants a nice stick full of flavor without the massive nicotine infusion i have gotten from some other medium-full bodied cigars.
I am not super up on flavor notes but it did have a very mellow smoke and some subtle sweet notes through out that i am not able to place yet (new to this whole thing) all in all so far one of my top 5 cigars i have tried!
Great stick. The draw is great with an even burn. There is a hint of vanilla, and cream. very little spice on the retrohale.
