Nick Fusco builds cigars around memories, and this one is about a car. His grandmother used to drive him around in a vintage Jaguar when he was a kid, and his grandfather would reach for the built-in lighter that those old cars came with to light up his cigar. That image, the lighter, the grandfather, the car, the ritual of it, became the Jaguar. Every El Mago cigar is handmade at Miguel Pinto’s MGE factory in Estelí, and this 6×50 box-pressed Toro delivers a combination that earns its place in the lineup on its own terms. An Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder is not the most common pairing in Nicaraguan-made cigars, and it produces something genuinely distinctive.

The Sumatra brings a natural earthiness and subtle sweetness. The San Andrés binder pushes back with spice and depth. Nicaraguan filler ties both together with sweet wood, roasted nuts, and a light mineral edge that develops beautifully through the second third. Medium in body, box-pressed for an effortless draw, and packaged individually in square tubes that make the whole experience feel like something worth slowing down for. Ten to a box. Gonzalo would have approved.
