Haven’t had a bad Alec Bradley. Great medium stick. Lots of flavor. Perfect burn, smooth draw, lots of smoke. Good aftertaste. Flawless cigar.

Smoking the Gatekeeper was a pleasure. Beautiful construction, nice draw, even burn (no touch-ups), and loads of flavor without getting too bitter or spicy in the last 1/3. Highly recommended.

This one just isn’t my thing.

I’m new to cigars and I’ve had a couple mild ones that just missed the mark for me and make me even question if this hobby is really for me. I got one of these in a Toro in the Fresh Pack 4-cigar sampler so I decided to give it a cut and a light.
Holy moly did this impress me! On the light I got coffee and chocolate right out the gate, but it wasn’t overwhelmingly strong. About 5 minutes in, I started to get a tiny bit of pepperiness that faded away as I finished the first 3rd.
Then the chocolate really came on… It was more on the dark chocolate side, but more earthy, like cocoa nibs. About half way through it got a little creamy and reminded me of a cup of hot cocoa – not the cheap SwissMiss stuff… Like Cadbury Drinking Chocolate.
On the finish the chocolate held on as I removed the band and the espresso came on. I had some uneven burn issues that required some touch up and relighting and it eventually started to lose its flavor and just taste like smoke so I let it die with dignity.
This is the first cigar in my new journey that has made me understand why people buy cigars by the box. I just hope the flavors are consistent on my next order!

Alec & Bradley cigars are all very unique! This blend might be their best in my opinion. Flavors that came to mind were Baby Ruth candy bar and Nesquik powder. As well as a dominant leather note from start to finish. Really quite loved the leather which was more of a suede, it was so smooth. The pepper notes were intermittent and appreciated to add some zing when needed. I smoked it maybe a little to fast because it was so good, but it might have led to the construction and consistency issues i had which were minimal either way. I just couldn’t get enough!

For the price, it’s not a favourite. No offending notes. A lot of leathers with some cocoa and roasted nuts. Little sweetness. Has a nice finish. Second half improved. Burn was pretty even and not too hot but had trouble keeping wrapper well lit. Love the band. Would try again but seemed like a mid shelf average habano. Medium strength.

After opening i was excited, loved the rich smell and the quality of the wrapper. Cold draw was very pleasant with notes of coffee and chocolate. After lighting i was getting really good notes of leather and coffee with hints of dark chocolate… but after 1/3 in it completely changed to a light almost tasteless aroma with some odd sweet notes that i just didn’t care for. If this is why they call it the gatekeeper, they can keep the gate closed as i didn’t care for the second half of the smoke, The first half however was fantastic and loved every puff.
