Umbagog Bronzeback (5×48)
$9.75 – $87.75
After the home run success of the original Umbagog, Dunbarton blender Steve Saka still wanted to offer the cigar loving world more. This blend features a Connecticut Broadleaf called a ‘2LS’, which grows lower on the stalk, and sits under the leaves typically selected for Broadleaf cigars. The result is a flavor profile that offers less sweet, earthy, cocoa notes. Instead, you’ll light one of these oily beauties up to experience a peppery smoke with the balance and complexity that you’ve come to expect from Dunbarton Cigars.

What a great cigar! I had one of those “ah ha” moments while smoking my way through this one. It had the complexity you’d expect from a Saka blend. It was smooth right down to the end. Should have got the box.

This take on umbagog is definitely less sweet than the original, the whole cigar from the first puff to the last puff is one consistent flavor profile of smooth white pepper, black unsweetened coffee, coco nibs/ baking coco, and an almost indescribable herbal undertone. By no means is this cigar bad BUT just like the brulee wagashi is verry different from brulee blue, the bronzeback is very different from the standard umbagog.

I was waiting for this to hit since I first heard Saka talk about it on his social media accounts. I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to the hype. I had it this afternoon and absolutely loved every bit of it. I thought it was better than the original, smoother and more aligned with my taste preferences. Will be buying more soon!

This is an incredible cigar. I’ve been a long time fan of the original Umbagog (and all Dunbarton lines) but this may be a new favorite. Right from lightup it gives strong coffee and chocolate notes with a peppery retrohale. Really unique cigar that continues to develop as you smoke. Highly recommend.

Very interesting cigar. I enjoy the original regularly but I prefer this blend. More pepper but it’s not overwhelming. The pepper creates a great balance with the sweetness and chocolate/coffee flavor of the wrapper. 10 out of 10

Definitely Spicer than the original especially through the retro but also has a Confectionery like sweetness to it

Loved it! I found this to be a very tasty, zesty cigar. Notes of cocoa, pepper, earth and an underlying sweetness. Definitely citrus zest too. Not sure if I like this one or the regular Umbagog more but they are both solid.

Very nice cigar! Nice coffee hints and a pepper retrohale. Near perfect burn with lots of smoke and a sweet hint. It will smoke in just about an hour. The draw is easy and smooth. Also the band comes off nice and easy so you can enjoy it right down to the nub. I’d grab the 10 pack or at least 5 as they are a great value.

My wrapper had holes all throughout it. Not like little holes, like eraser head sized holes. I was expecting a beetle to come out. It arrived this way! Tasted similar to an Umbagog but with a corn flake taste that wasn’t all that pleasurable but wasn’t bad, just made it taste cheap. Umbagog is leaps and bounds better than this one was. Maybe I got a bad one but seriously this was a disappointment (I like every other Dunbarton I have tried). I am just appalled that this hole filled wrapper made it through quality control. It makes me wonder what else they are missing in their quality control since this is a pretty egregious error. If you like umbagogs maybe try this for novelty, but I find the regular umbagogs to be a lot better.

Noah, I’ve smoked a few of those and that doesn’t sound anything like the experience I have come to expect. I’m going to reach out to customer service and get you a replacement. I would love to see the Bronzeback get another shot with you.
