From Punchcigars.com, “The fullest and darkest Punch to date, Diablo is made exclusively by A.J. Fernandez at his factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. With a carefully fermented Ecuadoran Sumatra Oscuro wrapper, Connecticut binder and Nicaraguan and Honduran habano ligero aged for 4-6 years, Punch Diablo is spicy, rich and full of flavor. In short, it’s the dark side of Punch.”

Smoke time 1h. Punch cut, this one is definitely all about the zest. Consistently peppery spicy with a notable dense smoke output, almost a citrus flavour note.
Wrapper was a little toothy, nicely presented. The band is conservative yet appealing and not overly complex, but not boring with a respectable colour scheme of red, silver and black.
The burn was good, there is not much to not like about this one.

I’ll be honest, I’m typically skeptical when CA throws things on their top 25 list. For some reason, I don’t typically agree. However.. I wanted to try this one as it had great accolades at a ridiculous price.
This was every bit what I would have hoped for. Certainly peppery, rich, robust, and full bodied. Yet… it had a refinement I wouldn’t expect in a cigar under $8.
Now, this isn’t something that will change your life… however, for a full-body smoke under $8, I’m hard-pressed to find anything at a better value. Absolutely worth every penny.

This is a review from sampler pack: SMPL.2019.WHSKY – The Punch Diablo cigar was a great smoke with notes of pepper from the start that took over most of my palate from the beginning. Approaching the first third the pepper subsided allowing more of a roasted nuts, cedar/earthy notes with a hint of sweetness that didn’t change until like my last puff when I retroed and was smacked with a uppercut of pepper that made my eyes water like an illegal WWE eye-poke. The Burn was razor sharp, the construction was near flawless. I started to smoke this while drinking water but quickly switched to a sparkling water. My only issue was that the beer glass from this sampler pack was chipped at the rim with wasn’t a big deal for because I placed it with my other collectors items so no worries there. Aside that great smoke I loved this stick it, kept me on my toes .

Cigar is tight. There’s barely any give when you squeeze it. Expected the draw to be bad but it wasn’t . Great flavor that got better the more I smoked.

This cigar is a little lumpy and bumpy with some thick veins, and the seams have shadows. The “Cut and a light” kicks off like a bull out the gate with a fresh leather punch to the mouth. Into the first third, the bull turned lamb with some coco mixed with espresso or, it’s a light chocolate I’m tasting. When I seen this cigar of top 25 with a name like Diablo I was thinking nasal killer, but there isn’t much pepper in the retro hale yet, kind of enjoyable so far. In the second third, there’s a coffee aftertaste with a light hint of chocolate still. This thing is actually burning down really evenly. It says full body but I don’t believe it is. It does have a strong taste but the flavor profile seems more simple and not that complex, I’m only picking out about four different things here. Really, it’s kinda sweet so far. At times it has a roasted nutty retro hale. The ash fell off at about one inch the first time. The flavors are leathery espresso with a coffee finish that turns sweet on the pallet with a toasted almond retro hale, not much changing up here in the end of the second third. Into the final third it seem like I’m tasting toasted leather with black coffee bean. An interesting flavor has come in that I can really identify. The chocolate has turned more dark. Did my first touch up. I’d have to say I’m surprised with this punch cigar, it’s not your typical punch that I’m use to. There is some pepper starting to develop in the retro hale now, and the strength has picked up a bit. It’s light on the nicotine side. Medium plus body. This cigar was sorta creamy sweet with muted chocolate notes.

Oh ya, this is called punch for a reason! Wonderful smoke with lots of pepper hits. Upon lighting my palate was hit with a nice pepper bite and a lot of barnyard hay notes, i didnt get much chocolate just mostly spice and hay which was lovely. A good strong cigar that lasted a good while! Would buy these again for sure.
