The Bravo is a short robusto that has some very potent flavors. It uses a blend of spicy Nicaraguan long filler and a splash of smooth vintage Dominican tobaccos. Its oily wrapper is a Connecticut Medio Tiempo so it is spicy but with flavor notes of dark chocolate and espresso.

This cigar had a stunning dark and oily wrapper. Close inspection revealed some thicker veins, but still a great looking cigar. The cold draw offered notes of roasted coffee beans and darker chocolate matching the appearance. On first light, this cigar offered up lots of smoke and a strong bitter note that had me take smaller draws. This continued for the first third, with some leather added. The retrohale was spicy, not quite earning a sneeze. As I approached the middle of the cigar, it became notably smoother but still quite flavorful. The RH mellowed with a nice campfire feel. The toned-down flavors continued in the final third, with some cedar sneaking in, and the chocolate becoming lightly sweet. The transitions within this cigar were easy to identify. If you can survive the early flavor punch, this became a balanced smooth smoke, clocking in at about 75 minutes.

Today, I smoked the Partagas black, and here’s the report. The description says chocolate and espresso of which I never found. There was a dark spicy sweetness from the wrapper, some leather, plain black coffee and nuttiness with a peppery retro hale. Crooked burn line. Coming into second base, the leather did become stronger, and the sweetness had stepped up one notch, but not much else to report. It smoked down a little fast. Not a lot of flavors in this cigar. It does give off a good amount of thick chewy smoke, with a medium plus strength. Very firm feel. Sorta burns the sinuses on the retro a bit. Overall it’s not a bad cigar, just not a really good one, I don’t think you’re going to get a $10.15 experience from it. There’s too many better blends in the $7 range for me to choose this over them. The one thing I did enjoy was the nicotine strength the final third brought in.

An absolutely magnificent smoke. The Partagas Black Label is Superman strong. And that’s a very good thing. Mellowed out in the second third, but the strength returned in the final third. Very peppery, with notes of dark chocolate. The retrohale was very flavorful as well. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Excellent construction, with a nice dark and oily wrapper. Had a good, even burn and held its ash very well.
I absolutely loved this smoke and will be adding more to my humidor!
