From the website of Oliva: “The Oliva Serie V Melanio is hand rolled using expertly fermented ligero fillers, leaves known for their robust and rich flavor. Five years in the making, this special cigar is sure to exceed a premium cigar smoker’s highest expectations.
Blending Notes: The Serie V is full flavored yet smooth. The long filler tobaccos are a blend of Oliva Nicaraguan Habano that emphasizes tobacco from the Jalapa region, an area known for a more nuanced leaf than the Esteli or Condega regions. This carefully aged Jalapa blend produces a particularly flavored smoke.”

Spot on about the Melanio. This blend has also appeared on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list 3 out of the last 5 years!!! Pretty impressive.

I ordered two of these and I’ve smoked one so far so the one negative I have to say about it might be a fluke. This is a great stick. Flavor was excellent. Burn was not exceptional but I only touched up once which is good for a boxed press. The only negative I have to say is the draw was a little tougher than I expected. We will see if the other stick I have is any better but regardless, 5/5 no doubt.

This is one awesome smoke. I don’t usually smoke torpedos but absolutely loved it. Great flavor and draw. Burn was consistent and the finish was excellent. Definitely made me like torpedos more. Great cigar to add to humidor!

Good smoke but I enjoyed the regular V over the Melanio .

I’ve always enjoyed Oliva Series V Melanios. Something may have been wrong with the particular cigars I received as no others in my humidor smoked “uncharacteristically”. Each of the Series V Melanio’s I purchased were “squishy” and smoked hot and bitter. Tried 3 of the 5. Decided I was done. Threw out the remaining two. Humidor was verified as at right temperature/humidity level and other cigars therein smoked consistently with their respective descriptions and flavor profiles as was my experience and consistent with multiple reviews. Very sad. Might try them again down the road but it’ll be awhile. Right now they are “blecchhh”.
