Blackbird Glitch Claro Robusto (5×50)
$6.30 – $113.90
Blackbird’s Glitch Cigars come from a happy misfortune that occurred on the blending table. When one factory worker accidentally put two different unintended types of leaf into the blend, which delivered an unexpectedly interesting and intricate flavor that has already begun captivating Blackbird fans. Sink your teeth into a mishap mix of Dominican and American tobaccos that offer a balanced and robust profile that was never meant to be… but is.

Weird not knowing what flavors to expect.. I got cedar, wood, with some cinnamon and/or spice and a creamy finish. Some chocolate came through in the final third. Great flavor. Amazing construction.

This delivered way above its price point

Didn’t quite meet my albeit high expectations for this cigar. Blackbird is very legit, the blend seems very unique as does the story, and the price point is impressive. All that being said, this cigar smoked like an Alec Bradley short filler cigar not in a good way. Got a lot of smoke rolling off the foot of the cigar, was a bit waxy. Very open draw with not a tremendous amount of smoke. Cigar went out on me halfway through (I had properly tempered it to my climate) granted this does happen sometimes inevitably.
Flavors were again somewhat odd. Started strong with a nice crisp edge to the retro – hale. This quickly faded out, never to return again. Retro was very mellow, not bringing anything new to the party that the aroma hadn’t already provided. Tremendous amount of Corn Tortilla chip, slight red berry, some generic wood (to be expected) and a slight vanilla on the top end of the aroma. Mouth flavor never fully realized. Nothing to delineate between aroma, retro, mouth flavor. At times though, a very good and unique roasty, nuttiness presented but was inconsistent and fleeting. Will inevitably rebate this cigar as I have 2. I would love nothing more than to appreciate the potential of this cigar and I will update my review accordingy.

An update to my previous review. Smoked my second Glitch Claro, having properly tempered it and established the humidity via my hygrometer. Cigar was fantastic and lived up to its potential for sure. Wrapper had a unique texture and color, similar to a Punch Golden Era or Totascan. Almost a very pale auburn. Flavor was very consistent, super roasty and woody. Mostly savory in that regard, having an overall dry flavor profile. Plenty of balance though from a subtle sweetness at the top end of the aroma. Unmistakable vanilla cake in the background, with the foreground being oak, and at times, whiffs of mesquite. Floral notes that were reminiscent of citronella. Last third stayed very consistent in aforementioned flavor and profile, with these flavors now dancing on the tongue. Tremendous amount of effervescent horseradish spice developed on the retro hale in the back third as well. Impressive and welcomed. Flavors of baby powder towards the end. but not in a bad way.
