Alec & Bradley Kintsugi Robusto (5×50)
$9.22 – $199.14
Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with a gold-dusted lacquer and creating a new, beautiful piece. This treats the breakage as part of the history of the object and doesn’t try to disguise the damage. Much in the same way that we live our lives, when something is broken or damage it forms us and creates new bonds, bringing us together. Alec and Bradley wanted to create such a bond in cigar smoking by paying an homage to this Kintsugi practice.

Liked everything about this but the terrible draw. Perfect, eve burn. Great flavor. Very tight draw. Tried to open it with a drae tool but it only helped a little. Pulled out a little wooden stem at the opening. Drae tool made it smokeable but not enjoyable. I have to try another one because the flavor and burn were great, I just couldn’t smoke this one.

This cigar has a massive band but nice looking construction. The dry draw was a little tight. I ordered the 6×52 but was shipped two 5×50’s to make up for it which was really nice. The “Cut and a light” kicks off with some dark wood and spice flavors. Not as smooth as I thought it would be. The draw is a little tighter than I like. There’s pepper on the retro hale, and a little nasal punch. The second third brings in some plum sweetness and a little nutty, and the woodsy flavor is still very present. Into the final third, the nicotine has picked up a bit with a high medium body and it’s began to add some heat in the draw, along with coffee and the spice is still holding on. It has a wavy burn that didn’t need many touch ups and the ash has held on nicely. I would score this around 89. This is my first kintsugi and I will probably buy this again.
