In March 2025, a devastating fire tore through Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí — AJ’s main factory, the house where he built his reputation as one of the most gifted cigar makers in the world. What followed was an outpouring of support from the cigar community, from fellow makers, retailers, and smokers who rallied around a man and a family that has given the industry so much.

Amar is AJ Fernandez’s thank you. The name carries two meanings — “moon” in Arabic, “to love” in Spanish — a dual tribute to his Cuban and Lebanese heritage, and a reminder that the lunar phase after full illumination is one of reflection, gratitude, and new beginnings. Rolled at the San Lotano Factory in Ocotal while the Estelí factory rebuilds, the Amar is a Nicaraguan puro built around a Habano wrapper and a medium-full body that reflects AJ’s signature approach: complex, well-balanced, and built with purpose.
