Nick Fusco built El Mago to honor his grandparents. Most of the brand’s releases are tied to the story of Gonzalo and Maria Torre, the James Hotel, the Surfside tragedy, the legacy of a family that built something real in Miami over generations. The Beach Blend goes to a smaller, quieter moment in that story: the times Nick sat with his grandfather on the beach, smoking cigars together, saying nothing in particular and meaning everything by it. That memory is what this cigar is named for. The blend itself is exactly the right match for a cigar with that kind of backstory.
Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan Criollo binder from Estelí, with three-region Nicaraguan filler pulling from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega together. Rolled at Miguel Pinto’s MGE factory in Estelí in small batches and box-pressed into a 5×50 that gives you about 45 minutes of cocoa, coffee, earth, and a building spice that develops cleanly through the second half without ever losing balance. Medium-full in body, beautifully constructed, and priced honestly at eight dollars a stick in 25-count bundles. This is the everyday El Mago. The one you reach for not because the occasion demands it, but because some afternoons just feel like the beach.
