Rocky Patel Sapphire Robusto (5.5×50)

A hundred prototypes. That is how many blend iterations Rocky Patel and his team worked through before Sapphire was done. That number is not a marketing claim. It reflects the specific challenge Patel set for himself: build a cigar inspired by the lingering natural sweetness of pre-embargo Cuban tobacco using Nicaraguan and Honduran leaf grown on farms he owns and controls. The wrapper is the only exception, a Mexican San Andrés leaf selected for the richness and depth it adds to the top of the blend.

Everything underneath it, the dual binder of Nicaraguan Estelí and Honduran Jamastran, the three-region Nicaraguan filler from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega, grew on Rocky Patel’s own land and aged in his own reserves for six to seven years before anyone rolled a single cigar. In this 5.5×50 box-pressed Robusto, all of that patience compresses into about 45 minutes of coffee bean, caramel, sweet spice, and a dark cocoa note that develops beautifully through the second third without ever losing the smoothness that aged tobacco alone can deliver. Rolled at Tavicusa in Estelí, packaged in a gem-shaped box of 20. The Robusto is where most people will start with this line. They will not stop there.
