Steve Saka first encountered this technique decades ago working with Lew Rothman on a brand called La Especion, and he has been waiting for the right moment to bring it back ever since. The idea is simple to explain and genuinely tricky to execute: build a cigar with two different wrapper leaves on the same stick. The body of this 6×52 Toro wears the same Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade G2BW wrapper that defines the Sobremesa Brûlée line, but the cap and the first inch or so are finished in a Nicaraguan Sun Grown leaf instead. The result is a cigar that smokes mild and creamy for most of its length, the way Brûlée always has, but delivers a noticeably spicier, more peppery hit right where your lips meet the cigar.

Saka calls it a technique that keeps the smoke relaxing while still giving your palate something to react to. Underneath both wrappers sits the same Mexican Matacapan negro binder and four-component Nicaraguan filler blend that built the original Sobremesa’s reputation. Rolled at Joya de Nicaragua in Estelí, packaged thirteen to a box. A brand new way to experience a blend Cigars Daily Nation already knows and trusts.
