The James Avenue line is built around a deceptively simple concept: one size, four blends, each one genuinely different from the others rather than a rebranded version of the same cigar with a different leaf on the outside. Nick Fusco and the team at MGE Cigars in Estelí developed each expression from the inside out, which is why the Habano pairs a Nicaraguan Criollo binder with its Habano wrapper while the Maduro version reaches for Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed underneath. Criollo binder brings a natural sweetness and spice that complements the earthy, complex character of a well-grown Habano wrapper in a way that creates real depth rather than just profile.
In this 6×54 box-pressed Toro, that combination opens with cedar and black pepper up front, moves through leather, roasted nuts, and dark fruit in the second third, and lands on a finish with the kind of complexity that makes you want to hold the smoke just a little longer than usual. Medium-full in body, rolling out of the same MGE factory that built the rest of the El Mago portfolio from the ground up. Twenty to a painted wood cabinet box. The James Hotel is on the label. The story is in every draw.
