Litto Gomez founded La Flor Dominicana in 1996, and the Suave was the very first cigar he ever released. His flagship. His foundation. So when he and his son Tony decided to tear it down and rebuild it from scratch for 2025, that was not a decision made lightly. The question they asked themselves was simple: knowing everything we know now about tobacco, about blending, about what LFD is capable of, what would this cigar have been if we’d built it today? The answer is this 5×48 Maceo. Gone is the original Connecticut Shade wrapper.
In its place is an Ecuadorian Corojo-seed leaf over a Mexican San Andrés binder, still paired with all-Dominican fillers and still rolled at Tabacalera La Flor in the Dominican Republic. The result stays true to the Suave promise, smooth, approachable, easy to reach for any time of day, but now with more depth. Cedar, roasted almonds, a touch of earth, and a natural sweetness on the finish that makes this one genuinely hard to put down. Eight dollars and change. Twenty to a box. Stack them.
