Twenty years ago, Don Pepín García introduced the Cuban Classic — the cigar that became known simply as the Don Pepín Black, and the blend that helped launch one of the most celebrated cigar families of the modern era. To mark two decades of that legacy, Pepín and Jaime García went back to their roots entirely. The Clásico 20th Anniversary is a true García family puro — every leaf grown on the family’s own farms in Nicaragua — anchored by a mahogany-brown Cuban-seed Habano 2000 wrapper and built around one of the rarest tobaccos in the world: Pelo de Oro. Literally “golden hair,” Pelo de Oro is a varietal so prone to developing mold that Cuba banned it outright.
The García family grows it in limited quantities on their Nicaraguan estates and reserves it exclusively for their most special limited releases. It appears in both the binder and filler here, adding layers of complexity, sweetness, and historic Cuban character that no other tobacco can replicate. The result is a 6.5×52 Toro Extra rolled at the My Father factory in Estelí — medium-full in body, loaded with black pepper, cedar, leather, cocoa, malt, and a haunting anise note that lingers through the finish. Limited to 2,500 numbered boxes of 20, each with a gold cutter. Twenty years. One size. Don’t wait.
