VSOP. In the cognac world it means Very Superior Old Pale — reserved for spirits aged between two and ten years. El Rey del Mundo is borrowing that language for good reason. The King of the World VSOP was rolled in 2021 at the STG Estelí factory in Nicaragua, then set aside to rest in the aging room for over four years before anyone got their hands on it. The result is a cigar that arrives already fully developed — a smooth, measured medium-full body with none of the green edges of a fresh stick.
The blend layers an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and a dual-origin filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican Habano leaf, a combination that produces a refined, elegant smoke with warmth, depth, and balance built in from day one. Only 2,000 boxes of 16 cigars were produced. At under eleven bucks a stick, this is the kind of cigar that makes you do a double take at the price tag. It starts shipping in April 2026 — get on it early.

I added this to my list of favorites in my nerdy spreadsheet, and I bought a 10 pack this week. The whole experience of this cigar was on point. I don’t know how to score cigars but the burn, draw, smoke and flavor was excellent all the way down to the nub. If you like Sumatra wrapped cigars, I think this is a good medium-full (leans full but so smooth) option that is priced in my zone.
