   First Impressions & Construction

   The Jester is striking before the light dark oily Habano Oscuro wrapper, bold artwork, and hefty 56-ring Figurado size. It’s rolled with AJ Fernández’s trademark precision: nearly razor sharp burn, strong ash that held in stacked layers, cool temperature even near the burn line, and a chewy smoke texture on every draw. No touchups were necessary, though I did a couple out of habit.

   First Third

   Opens with a spicy citrus note on the retrohale, a lively surprise that pairs beautifully with a creamy dark-and-milk chocolate combo. This balance of brightness and sweetness is unique and instantly engaging. Cedar and soft wood undertones ground the flavors, with hints of medium roast coffee quietly weaving in. Sweetness leans firmly toward chocolate rather than dark fruit, making it stand out from many fuller Nicaraguan blends.

   Second Third

   The chocolate morphs into a mocha profile, bringing coffee more forward while retaining creaminess. Retrohale introduces a zesty white pepper kick, bright but not harsh. A distinct note emerges, something like a smoked barrel of fresh-rolled tobacco a rustic, artisanal character that adds depth. This middle third feels like a flavorful rollercoaster: spicy, creamy, woody, and sweet, all shifting in waves.

   Final Third

   The final act opens with a smoked latte sensation on the retrohale creamy, roasted, and silky. Cedar and charred woods take center stage, accented by a new layer of smoked dark fruit (dark cherry/plum) and a touch of leather. As it closes, the cigar settles into a creamy smoked dark chocolate finish, never turning bitter, staying smooth until the nub.

   Body & Strength

   Full-bodied in flavor with a solid nicotine presence, though balanced and not overwhelming. It’s warming and grounding, better enjoyed after a meal.

   Overall Experience

   The Viva La Vida Jester impressed with both construction and a kaleidoscope of flavors. From spicy citrus and milk chocolate to mocha, smoked latte, cedar, dark fruit, and leather, the transitions were constant, distinct, and rewarding. Each third felt like a new chapter, with the Figurado shape amplifying the complexity.
