From Americanvikingcigars.com, “Rico Barato is not a real person. We made him up. His name means Rico – ‘rich’ Barato – ‘cheap’. These are our econonmy cigar brand, and they have a very special place in our hearts. There was a long time when co-owner Tim Swanson could only afford sticks like these. Each stick is a mix of long filler with some short filler sprinkled in, making this a Cuban Sandwich. The drawback with these affordable cigars is that they burn a little faster, and have a pretty simple flavor profile. But we feel that these Connecticut sticks offer incredible consistency, construction, and flavor… especially for their shelf price.”

The five star review is with consideration of the price, but after smoking through a bundle of these sticks and a box of CAO Flatheads, I have to say I feel foolish for spending over 10 bucks a stick for the Flatheads.
These rich and dark cigars aren’t complex, but it’s a good flavor, solid burn (though not forgiving if you light improperly), and a volumous smoke. Its my favorite road and bbq cigar as it gives a solid mouthful of smoke for an hour and a half consistently.
I am not a doctor, and I cannot give medical advice, but I’ve anecdotally found my mental health to be much better with one of these! If you are looking for something smoother with more complexity, look to the Dama Valada.

The stick tastes like it was a 7 or 8 dollar one. This was a gift bundle I got and am super happy. The smoke was extra thick and flavorful to the very foot. Totally want a double Churchill on this as it’s not something I wanted to stop. Will be stocking up on these! Another winner from American Viking!
I do not work for Cigars Daily. This really was super good. The flavors are spiced with oak, white pepper that marries with hints of cocoa nibs and leather. It’s not going to change throughout much but that’s okay as the flavor is good throughout.

The wrapper on both the Maduro & Connecticut just absolutely fell apart. They have sat in my humidor for over a week after receiving. Making for an unenjoyable experience.
