From Americanvikingcigars.com, “Rico Barato is not a real person. We made him up. His name means Rico – ‘rich’ Barato – ‘cheap’. These are our econonmy cigar brand, and they have a very special place in our hearts. There was a long time when co-owner Tim Swanson could only afford sticks like these. Each stick is a mix of long filler with some short filler sprinkled in, making this a Cuban Sandwich. The drawback with these affordable cigars is that they burn a little faster, and have a pretty simple flavor profile. But we feel that these Connecticut sticks offer incredible consistency, construction, and flavor… especially for their shelf price.”

Jake Robertson –
I smoked this next to a camp fire with some friends, the flavor was actually pretty good, but the draw was terrible, it felt like there was no resistance at all. The burn was flawless, but the inside the stick it felt like there were tons of gaps in the pack.
Chorowitz –
It had a really sour bitter taste on light up, and it just wasn’t for me, the construction was very good for the price.
Chief Don –
Had a sour taste at light, but it mellowed out and I liked it quite a bit will probably become my everyday smoke.

This was a surprisingly enjoyable stick for me. Unlike some other reviews, it had some really good flavor right in the first third as well as a good burn, in the second third it did slow down for me a bit and get bland, but into the last third it was a good finish. And throughout, produced great smoke. For a $3 stick, can’t ask for too much more. I would definitely consider having a stack of these in the humidor for a value, any day smoke.

I absolutely love these and the Maduro sticks . They are affordable and they are a torpedo. That’s win win for me . I really prefer these over factory smokes which aren’t bad either . Definitely add one or two to your order to give them a try .

Fantastic cigar for the price! Even burn throughout, great smoke output and a nice creamy flavor. Would definitely recommend.

Nice creamy $3 torpedo. Pleasant aftertaste. Smooth draw with decent smoke output. The burn needed a couple touch ups in the first third but was even the rest of the way. Simple flavor profile as described. I’d buy more.

This tasted like a cigarette… not enjoyable for me… gave it a chance all the way to the nub and was glad I was finally done with it. Not awful, just don’t like it. Consistent flavor, nice burn, good smoke, but I didn’t love it. Try the maduro if you want a better smoke.
