From Americanvikingcigars.com, “Rico Barato is not a real person. We made him up. His name means Rico – ‘rich’ Barato – ‘cheap’. These are our econonmy cigar brand, and they have a very special place in our hearts. There was a long time when co-owner Tim Swanson could only afford sticks like these. Each stick is a mix of long filler with some short filler sprinkled in, making this a Cuban Sandwich. The drawback with these affordable cigars is that they burn a little faster, and have a pretty simple flavor profile. But we feel that these Connecticut sticks offer incredible consistency, construction, and flavor… especially for their shelf price.”

I just want to start off by saying this is about my 10th cigar ever so I’m a beginner with a developing palette, but this cigar was the first time I actually got to enjoy the flavor profile like how other people describe it. The cigar itself was perfectly humidified and burned evenly 5 days after I received it since I let it “rest”, and since it thankfully came with a boveda pack. The flavor profile itself was actually good. At first it tasted “woody” to me then when it transitioned to the second third I noticed a “creamy” taste and then I was finally introduced to that “leathery” flavor that lots of people like to say. That leather flavor was really good to me and loved it, it doesn’t literally taste like leather how you would think (unless it’s supposed to idk though I’m just a beginner lol) but you’ll definitely know what the leather taste is like when you get to it. It is a light to medium strength cigar, but the flavor is definitely rich and bold like the name suggests. For sure a 10/10 would smoke again.
