From the website of Padron Cigars, “The award winning 1926 serie premiered in 2002 to commemorate Jose O Padron’s 75th birthday. Continuing our tradition, this series is offered in a box-pressed format offering refined tobacco aged five to ten years, then blended to create an exceptionally smooth, complex, balanced full-bodied flavor. For protection, a double band with an individually numbered guarantee number is applied to every label to safeguard against counterfeiting.”

Wow! The quality of this cigar is so impressive. It burns perfectly, aroma and flavours are delicious. Full strength cigar that is perfect after a hearty meal.

Today I’m smoking the 1926 Padron Maduro no. 6 robusto. This is my third cigar for the day so far. It’s a short pressed dark brown cigar that’s lumpy and bumpy. It looks as if it’s been in a car accident with all the imperfections. I picked this up from the B&M. For the price I just about expect a better looking stick and this one looks like a slept in bed. The “Cut and a light” kicked off some pretty serious black pepper. There’s leather for sure. A bit of coffee and a woodsy note. I want to say earth but there’s not enough there to really give it that accolade. Sorta short finish. The retro hale is a spicy black pepper. It has a lose draw. The smoke is dry but plentiful. Slow burning. Stealing second base the ash is still holding on. The burn isn’t perfect but isn’t requiring any attention. The retro hale has dropped the spice and become smoother. There’s a coco powder coming in and a mild sweetness on the pallet. A slight taste of cedar now in the aftertaste. The coffee has faded a bit. This is a really smooth cigar. It’s a medium body, with an equal strength, and nice flavor profile. Coming in third base the retro spice has picked back up. The sweetness has fallen off. The burn is very slightly uneven but I haven’t made any touch ups to it. Some coffee has survived. The smoke is cool, dry and unsweet. There’s an under the tongue bitterness like weak coffee sometimes give me, not bad though it’s actually very light. Over all it’s a really good cigar, I expected more from a Maduro wrapper, but it’s delivered a no complaints here status. Just smooth flavors that doesn’t really get mean in any category. My smoke times was an impressive one hour and twenty minutes for this short cigar. I think this is one I can toss into the 91 points range. I think that it should be in a toro size to justify the $20 price tag.

I rate this cigar at 96. My #1 so far. I believe this is the perfect cigar with some age.
First Third white pepper, dark chocolate, with undertones of earth, leather, nuts, espresso and sweetness. Second third sweetness, dark fruit black pepper, with undertones of earth floral and cocoa. Final third black pepper dark chocolate, and brown sugar with undertones of molasses and earth. Will mellow with some age.
Cigar Afficionado #2 2023 with a rating of 96.
Padrón’s 75th birthday. In 2016, Padrón released the No. 48 size to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Tobacconists’ Association of America. One might expect the thick 60 ring gauge to result in some dilution of the blend, but that didn’t happen. With its rich smoke of cocoa, almond, honey and cinnamon, the No. 48 is proof that Padrón could successfully scale up the blend and preserve all the desirable qualities that make the Serie 1926 so distinct.

FRIST THIRD
Took a little more time to light up due to its firm and even pack at the foot. Once lit rich notes of aged dark tobacco and white pepper begin to make their first appearances. After the first few draws, the smoke begins to mellow out slightly to bring forth more complexity. The initial draw offers a burst of dark chocolate, espresso, and a subtle hint of earthiness. As you progress through the first third, notes of leather and toasted nuts emerge
SECOND THIRD
Takes on a smoother mouthfeel. The wrapper seems to have become sweeter while notes of dark fruit and black pepper hang around on my palate. There’s also a solid backing of earthy notes that add complexity to the smoke. The flavors intensify, with a delightful spiciness that tingles the palate without overwhelming it. The draw remains smooth and consistent.
FINAL THIRD
The peppery notes that were present for most of the experience have almost completely faded. Notes of molasses and brown sugar become more apparent as the cigar burns down. The chocolate and espresso notes return with a renewed vigor, joined by a pleasant sweetness that lingers on the lips. The finish is long.

The double band was perfectly fit. It held its place anywhere on the cigar. It’s the most I’ve spent on a single. Some pepper at the first but quickly mellowed into smooth aged tobacco flavor. Ash fell at end of 1/3. Removed top band. Enjoyed the same mellow aged flavor to the end of 2/3 with a medium full strength. Lots of cool thick smoke. Flawless construction to this point. Flavor reminds me of some 11 year old Partagas I have. Went out at beginning of last third. I’m ok with that. Smoke the rest later. Fired it up 30 minutes later. It was delicious but got pretty hot. Great experience.
