From My Father’s website, “La Promesa, ‘The Promise,’ refers to the promise made by company patriarch Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia to his family before leaving his native Cuba. He promised to prove himself, to make something of himself in the cigar world outside of Cuba. He promised to honor his family and his tobacco heritage. According to My Father, the company as it stands today with its farms in Nicaragua and factories in both Nicaragua and Miami is the fulfillment of that promise. My Father-La Promesa is covered in a dark, Ecuadoran Habano rosado oscuro wrapper, with binder and filler tobaccos from the Garcia family farms in Nicaragua.”

Draw was so tight that I literally couldn’t get a draw off of it. Pretty disappointed. Was looking forward to this stick.

Not my favorite my father cigar but definitely up there. Medium to full body stick with notes of leather and earth and nice creamy sweetness in 2nd third.

Smoking one now, so no better time to share my thoughts. (1) It’s a My Father, so construction is on point. (2) Draw and burn has been ideal. (3) Medium+ body and strength with white pepper, leather & earthy tones. I like how the Lancero feels in the hand, but find I favor a larger ring gauge (52-56) to smoke.

Box worthy stick. My favorite My Father cigar especially in this Vitola. Chocolate notes with less spice than the Le bijou or La Opulencia. If you want a chocolate stick with little to no spice it’s hard to beat this!
