Some cigars are so good that they leave you wondering just how they did it. The Montecristo Espada Signature is one of those cigars. Produced at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Esteli Nicaragua, this blend features Plasencia’s patented high tier tobaccos grown in fields topped with entirely organic soil. The result with this blend is a cigar that offers a satiating and robust profile with rich notes of cedar, leather, earth, creamy chocolate, and a thick chewy smoke. At Cigars Daily, this has quickly become one of our very favorite limited releases of the year from any cigar maker.

The best Montecristo I’ve ever had! Full of flavor that coats the palate. Looking forward to smoking more of these!

I feel this one was really up played and maybe I was expecting it to be alot better, kinda like over hyping a movie and then it was just ok. Thats how I feel about this Cigar. I did buy 2 of them so I am going to let the other one sit a couple months and try it again later to see if its better. It had a hard time staying lit and the wrapper just fell apart on me

Bought a box from CigarsDaily. Heard a good smoke.
3/14/25 i rate this cigar at 91.
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Factory: Plasencia Cigars S.A.
Wrapper: Nicaragua (Jalapa Colorado Claro)
Binder: Nicaragua (Estelí)
Filler: Nicaragua (Estelí)
Length: 6 Inches
Ring Gauge: 55
Vitola: Toro Gordo
A medium brown-colored wrapper with a reddish tint covers this Montecristo Espada Signature Valiente, and while it is exceedingly smooth to the touch, there are no signs of oil present. In addition, a couple of thick veins run down the length of the cigar, and there is quite a bit of spongy give when it is squeezed. Aromas from the wrapper include sweet earth, espresso beans, nutmeg, barnyard, wood and general nuttiness.
FIRST THIRD
Temperature 64 and RH is 66. The profile starts off with strong almond and espresso beans flavors, followed by woodiness and vegetal notes. Undernotes are graham cracker and cedar. I can taste quite a bit of mineral saltiness on the retrohale. Flavor ends the first half at mild-plus, while both the strength and body at medium-plus. The draw, is creamy and airy. Burn is straight. Ash is thick. Holds ash.
SECOND THIRD
Very windy and need to relight. The main flavors shift a bit: the espresso beans note fades a bit into the background, replaced by graham cracker and cedar flavor that joins the almond note at the top of the profile. Secondary flavors include earth, sourdough bread, dark chocolate and nutmeg, while the mineral saltiness and vegetal notes 1remains noticeable. Flavor is medium. The body increases to a medium-plus and the strength is medium. The overall construction is excellent. Ash is thick and burn is flawless. Draw is better with creamy texture.
FINAL THIRD
In the final third, dominant flavors of earth and leather are complemented by notes of cocoa. The retrohale consistently delivers black pepper and a bready sweetness, though the sweetness decreases towards the end. Draw is great with creamy to syrupy smoke texture. Burn remains straight. Strength increases to medium-plus. Flavor profile is medium. Body is medium-full. Ash thick. Sells for $17. Nice change from the stronger maduro cigars I’ve come to love and enjoy. Will age the rest to bring out more flavors.

A very hyped up cigar and for good reason! I decided to get two of these and now wished I would have gotten a box. This is the first cigar that reminds me of a Plasencia. So very mild to med. strength, but so complex. Tons of flavor, lots of smoke, and a perfect burn. It’s a 10/10 for me. I hope I can get my hands on some more Please.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Montecristo Espada Signature Valiente (6×55) – Limited Edition
Rating: 4/5
Smoked: August 2025
Smoke time: 2 hours+
Reviewer: Sky B
First Impressions:
Right out of the gate, this cigar had a very airy, loose draw more open than I’m used to. While it burned clean and cool, the loose draw did thin out some of the early flavor intensity. That said, construction held beautifully throughout, and the gold foot band and wrapper presentation were absolutely stunning. This cigar is dressed like royalty.
First Third:
Started with roasted nuts, creamy cedar smoke, and a touch of soft wood, balanced with a layer of dry cocoa. Not explosive, but definitely elegant. The texture of the smoke was smooth and refined. No harshness, no pepper blast just a gentle, classy intro.
Second Third:
This is where things began to deepen. The cocoa evolved into dark chocolate especially on the retrohails, and a new note of charred oak arrived bringing a slightly smoky edge to the profile. I also picked up on that beautiful, nostalgic “old library wood” note, which was probably my favorite moment of the entire cigar. Smooth, mature, and refined. Super nostalgic.
Final Third:
A late flourish of flavor appeared in the last third. I picked up on toasted oat, smoked chocolate, and the continuation of that charred oak. Toward the very end, a faint baking spice and soft clove emerged on the retrohail, whispers of warmth that felt like a final nod from the blender.
Final Thoughts:
This is a cigar that speaks softly but clearly. It doesn’t go on a flavor roller coaster, it glides. If you’re looking for transitions, drama, or surprise twists, this might feel a bit too restrained. But if you enjoy cigars with refinement, warmth, and quiet sophistication, it delivers in spades.
I personally prefer a cigar with more movement and complexity, so while this didn’t hit that 5-star “wow” zone for me, I still deeply appreciated what it offered. And I smoked it nearly to the nub, so that says a lot.
Would I smoke it again?
Yes, on a calm reflective night.
Is it box-worthy?
If you love creamy Nicaraguan cigars with balance and structure, absolutely.
Pairing recommendations for non-alcoholic or alcohol drinkers. Something creamy and warm like a spiced butter beer made with a good quality Irish Red Ale or a good craft root beer that uses cane sugar.

Man what can i say!? This cigar was smooth as smooth can get. Im not really one of those smokers that can pick out flavors and notes but i can say i didn’t detect spice and pepper. Just a smooth, well even burn, a draw from scale of 1-5 1 being tight and 5 being loose is about a 3. I recommend this stick i got a toro size which i usually don’t do i tend to lean on robusto just because of my time allowed to smoke but man i was able to finish off a toro beautifully. If you a beginner smoker like me i recommend and well worth the price.
