The Suave line is where La Flor Dominicana started. Litto Gomez built his reputation on bold, ligero-heavy sticks, but the Suave was always the other side of what he could do: proof that restraint and sophistication are their own kind of skill. When he and Tony overhauled the entire line in 2025, the Grand Maduro series got the most dramatic transformation. The old version used a Connecticut Broadleaf. The new one reaches into Mexico for a San Andrés wrapper over a Jalapa Nicaraguan binder and all-Dominican fillers, and it comes out of Tabacalera La Flor pressed into a firm, elegant 6.25×52 box-press that rewards a slow, deliberate smoke.
Pre-light aromas of dark fruit and raisin bread give way to a profile built around toasted oak, earth, black pepper, and a dark cocoa note that develops beautifully through the second third. Medium in body, never harsh, and complex enough to hold your attention for the full hour this size demands. Under twelve dollars. This is what a serious maduro looks like at an honest price.
