The Metropolitan Connecticut Union is the shortest smoke in the Ferio Tego Metropolitan Connecticut lineup, and that is exactly the point. At 4.5×50 you are getting the full twenty-five-year-old recipe in a format that fits a coffee break, a quick walk, or any window of time that is too short for a toro but too good to waste on something mediocre. Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott have kept this blend completely unchanged since its Nat Sherman days: Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler, handrolled at the Quesada family’s TABADEX factory in the Dominican Republic, mild to medium in body, and consistently excellent from the first draw to the last. Cedar, toast, cream, and a gentle nuttiness come through in a tighter, more compact package that runs warmer than the longer vitolas and pushes the flavor forward just a little faster as a result.
The Union is the answer to the question of what to smoke when you only have twenty-five minutes and still want something worth lighting. Herklots built this blend to last. The Union proves it can do that in under half an hour.
