The Desert Walker Story: Justin Andrews came to visit me for an episode of Cigars Daily LIVE. It was a nice ‘warm’ day in Arizona, and Tim accidentally locked himself and Justin out of the Cigars Daily building before the show. However, the show must go on. So Justin and Tim had no choice but to make a lengthy walk through the Arizona desert to collect a spare key to the building. Afterward, Justin vowed not to visit Cigars Daily ever again. However, Tim’s deep love for the Diesel Boxergrail and Diesel Vintage Maduro sparked up a passion to create a cigar the combines the best qualities of those two blends. After some convincing, Justin agreed to create the Desert Walker… but made Tim promise that he would never have to weather the Arizona desert ever again.

The Diesel Desert Walker is a collaboration between AJ Fernandez, Justin Andrews (Diesel), and Tim Swanson (Cigars Daily). The Cigars Daily Edition blend features a well curated marriage of Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the farms AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua. This bold cigar produces a perfect marriage of pepper and spice from the Nicaraguan tobaccos, and a bright chocolate and leather sweetness from the Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper.

I really enjoyed this one. As far as Diesel goes this is now in my top 3 favorites. The chocolate and leather compliment each other and are strong notes. The cigar is very well made. Burns even, plenty of smoke, good draw, and the ash holds in there well enough. If truth be told I believe the robusto is better with the flavor notes than the toro yet the toro gives you a little more burn time to enjoy the blend. I have definitely ordered my fair share and burned every single one so far. After the Esteli Puro this is a safe go to for me. I highly recommend the same Desert Walker if you’re a Diesel enthusiast.

Great smoke! Flawless burn and wonderful flavors. Was very surprised by the complexity, and very box worthy. Absolute banger!

Enthusiastic couple sharing in the fun:
Fantastic Collab! Outstanding Cigar! This stick had everything that one comes to expect from a cigar that Swanson has a hand in making. Excellent construction and an even burn with loads of flavor. I got sparkles in the ember as the wrapper burnt (one would assume that is from the oils of the wrapper being released). The aroma was delicious with a toasted nutty sweetness (coconut?) and a light baking spice. We experienced balanced notes of pepper, a mild leather, a toasted nutty sweetness (again coconut?) , with a cedar, woodsy and a little bit of an earthy note that came in more in the second third and ramped up a bit in the final third along with the strength. This was smoked to the nub it was so good and we wanted more! This was an immensely satisfying cigar experience. The artwork on the box and the band was kickass and has major Gunslinger vibes. Shoutout to Ryan’s son who made the fantastic concept art for this line! The entire experience really encapsulated the Desert Walker theme and story.
This is definitely going to stay in our humidor as long as it is in production.
As always Cigars Daily provides an excellent service and a large selection of cigars that are packaged with care and shipped quickly!

Smoked my first Desert Walker today. Only thing that disappointed me was that I waited to long and they are out of the toro. Got my Cigars Daily dual torch/soft flame lighter and wanted to use it for touch ups but didn’t need it. Razor sharp burn 🔥. GREAT CIGAR!

Tim does it again. Only thing I didn’t like but also like at the same time is the gargantuan band. This is a stick you want to keep in the humidor as a regular.

My new favorite Daily Edition Cigar ! So good, I had to place a second order. Beautiful dark wrapper leaf, I got notes of chocolate, espresso, and some baking spice with slight sweetness. The burn was almost perfect on this one. The aroma that was emitting from cigar when I would place it down smelled very nice. It has a medium draw which I enjoy. Ya’ll got this one right !

FIRST THIRD
Great looking cigar! Smoked at 61%RH which was perfect. Started off with primary notes of dark chocolate with sweetness from the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Undertones are cocoa and dried fruit (plum). Retrohale is baking spice and plum. Leather and earthiness comes into later as an undertone. Flavors are medium plus. Strength is full-minus. Body is medium-full with a thick creamy smoke texture. Construction is flawless. Ash is thick and chunky. Ash holds. Great complexity to start this third.
SECOND THIRD
The spice ramps up with black pepper and plum. Primary flavors are earthiness and cocoa. Undertones are leather, earth and sweetness. Flavor is medium plus. Strength is full. Body is medium-full with creamy texture. Construction flawless. Earth takes over at end of this third and therfore not as complex.
FINAL THIRD
Earth is the primary note. Faint Undertones of cocoa, black pepper and plum. The sweetness is gone. Retrohale is very peppery with black and red bouncing back and forth. Flavors less complex and in the medium range. Strength is full. Body is medium with a lighter smoke texture. I believe this cigar will only get better with age.

What a great smoke. Full of flavor and good strength. The construction and burn were near perfect. Lots of dark rich flavor. Well worth having in the humidor.

Great smoke! Flavors of pepper, chocolate, coffee, a touch of leather and subtle unique flavors on the retro that would come across different depending on the person. Long dark coffee finish on this one. Awesome!! My only complaint is that CD doesn’t have any artwork prints of the band. This is the most kick ass band ever, it’s unique and is worthy of a wall hanging print!
