Nelson Alfonso’s tribute to that period comes draped in a deep, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that immediately signals a more complex, full-flavored journey than its Connecticut-wrapped sibling. The filler is a three-nation assembly of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobaccos, bound together in a construction that Alfonso keeps largely to himself by design.

After rolling at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory, each cigar spends a full year in the aging room before moving to a variable-humidity facility for three more years of rest — four years total before it ever reaches your humidor.
