One of the hottest manufacturers on the market today is without a doubt AJ Fernandez. So much so that companies are tapping him to make cigars for their own portfolio. While this helps get your name out there, it can also work against you as people tend to overlook your core lines. One of those core lines is the AJ Fernandez New World which is a Nicaraguan puro. The company describes the cigar as, “a true work of art blended with the finest tobaccos found in the four main tobacco regions of Nicaragua. Hand selected wrapper and fillers from Esteli, Ometepe, Condega and Jalapa are showcased in a beautiful medium to full-bodied box pressed cigar.” From CigarAuthority.com

The AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon brings a vibrant twist to the renowned New World series with its lively African wrapper. Draped in a silky, toothy Cameroon leaf, this cigar delivers a naturally sweet and spicy character that perfectly complements AJ’s masterful Nicaraguan core. Beneath the wrapper lies a hearty Nicaraguan binder and long-fillers grown on AJ’s own farms, ensuring remarkable quality and consistency.
Light up and you’re greeted with an intricate flavor profile of baking spice, cedar, and graham cracker sweetness, layered with undertones of leather and toasted nuts. The Cameroon wrapper adds a zesty edge that keeps the smoke bright and flavorful from beginning to end. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, it offers enough complexity to keep seasoned smokers engaged while remaining approachable for those exploring premium cigars.
With excellent construction, a razor-sharp burn, and an aromatic room note, the New World Cameroon stands out as both a celebration of tradition and a showcase of AJ Fernandez’s blending artistry. This is a cigar that wears its heritage proudly while offering something truly unique for every humidor.

Starts off rather light and I was disappointed at first but I’m not one to toss a stick once it’s lit, however perseverance pays off and as you progress it picks up a nice spice and flavour profile, absolutely great value for the money!

By far the best Cameroon on the market, in my opinion. The box press adds the extra “sophisticated” feel to it. After smoking at least 40 of these, I’d give it the title of “Best Cameroon” amongst all cameroons!

Hadn’t had one of these beauties for some time. I was reminded how good of value it is. Solid construction with a buttery smooth wrapper. Mild to medium profile on the palate, showing nutty, butterscotch notes. AJF blends an excellent cigar.

Excellent construction and burn. Beautiful wrapper with strong, visible veins. Medium draw.
Had the ash fall off short twice, bands were a little loose and were already starting to peel on the edge before light up.
As far as flavor goes, not my preference. Got a lot of grass/hay throughout with on and off peppery notes, but not much else.
Good cigar overall and a nice representative of the Cameroon style.

The New World blends are pretty impressive, this Cameroon has flavors of cedar, light chocolate, wood, earth, and coffee. I didn’t taste much hay or grass in the draw but the aroma does smell that way. Good construction. Medium body. Good smoke output. It’s one of the better Cameroons I think. Smooth retro hale. Nice even burn line. A little bit of spice in the second third. Overall an enjoyable cigar.

I’ve been wanting to try one of these for a bit as I’ve never tried anything with a Cameroon wrapper, and figured an offering from AJ would be a could place to start. Very different, very peppery/spicy. It wouldn’t be something I’d go back to over and over again, but if I’m looking for that spicy experience, I would seek this out again.

The first Cameroon wrapper I’ve ever enjoyed. I’ll definitely keep a stock of these at home.
