JGCigarReviewer –
This was my first Aganorsa experience and, without giving any spoilers, I’ll say that it was an overall pleasant smoke. Aganorsa notes that they “strive for perfection” and that this particular cigar “is a testament to their high standards.” While not perfect, it did provide some nice complexity in the body with little to no strength detected from start to finish. The full review is below!
Before Lightup: The overall presentation was great – the white, gold, and red worked really nicely together to make the band look opulent while simultaneously bringing out the character of the wrapper. The wrapper itself was a milk chocolate color with good veins and had both tight and visible seams, pointing to quality construction. Right away I noticed that the pack of the tobacco was beyond firm – almost hard, but the draw seemed to have the perfect amount of resistance. The flavor of the pre-light draw was a dried fruity sweetness which could be coming from the wrapper. The pre-light fragrance was a wonderfully rich and sweet tobacco paired with a mild hay. On this stick we used a V-cut and did toast the foot as usual.
First Light: The first light body profile was a solid medium – not too light and not too overpowering – a nice morning stick. The flavors coming off this stick included a mild pepper, both taste and spice, right away which married well with that sweetness mentioned earlier. The flavor of the sweetness was in the neighborhood of a dried fruit. Then came a mild, roasted almond flavor which transitioned into a very neutral finish that was neither bitter nor sweet – actually it was kind of salty. Smoke output is good, despite a slightly snug draw which I can only assume is a result of that super firm pack which is heating up and expanding. The initial retrohale was peppery with a slight zing. This faded quickly and then you were left with an intensified flavoring of the sweetness and nuttiness in the flavor profile.
First Third: The pepper note was short lived and transitioned into a light chocolate flavor without the chocolate sweetness. The sweetness continued to come in the form of that dried fruit flavor – think something along the lines of a raisin. The nuttiness from the roasted almonds transitioned into a smooth leathery note with almost a yeasty bread note attached to the end of it. This is a flavor I’ve only ever gotten in Cubans (though I must admit, I haven’t smoked all the cigars in the world either)! I have no complaints regarding the burn, but I could visibly see the cigar swelling as a result of the tight pack and noticed a slight fray at the base of the ash. Fortunately it had no apparent impact to the flavor of the cigar – only speaks to the construction of the stick. The body at this point was up a notch to a medium to medium/full (closer to medium). The smoke itself was medium bodied – it wasn’t chewy but it also wasn’t light and airy – and I found myself having to give a double puff to get great output as a result of the snug draw.
Second Third: During the second third I got a flavor that I don’t normally get. It was a slight, sweet, mild nuttiness – almost like a graham cracker. There was still that smooth leather flavor with a tinge of dried fruit tartness that cause me to start salivating, although the flavor itself was indistinguishable. The finish was very neutral, continuing to lean more toward the savory/salty spectrum, if anything. That yeasty bread note transitioned beautifully into an aged tobacco flavor that was both mild and smooth. At this point the ash had still not fallen off and it actually continued to move as if it was still a part of the cigar – I guess this is due in part to that very tight pack. Body dropped down to a solid medium again and no strength (nicotine) was detected. Band removal was no issue.
Final Third: At the end of the second third and just starting the final third I noticed a brightness coming in, almost like a citrus brightness. The roasted almonds flavor returned and there was a charred oak flavor that began to emerge the longer I smoked. The yeasty bread note reappeared, losing it sweetness from the second third, and then the flavors washed out toward the conclusion of the stick, losing it some points. The body remained at a medium throughout the entire smoke and I never got any strength coming in. Overall smoke time was 1 hour 26 minutes.
Overall: The biggest area where this stick lost points was in construction. That tight pack gave way to some issues with the draw and caused the flavor at the end to fade out quickly. The flavor profile was unique and complex and I loved that you could actually get that yeasty/age-tobacco note because it really reminds you that time and effort goes into making cigars. Overall score came out to 8.7 out of 10 or 87 out of 100. I would definitely give this stick a second try to see if the construction issues were a one-off, perhaps even raising the score a couple points. If it sounds good, try it!

Cedar, earth, nuts, sweetness, and maybe some pepper. Great all around smoke. For some reason I enjoyed the toro more. Have more robusto in my humidor. Saving them for a time where I can truly relax and enjoy the experience.

Simular flavor profile to JFR Lunitic Torch. Incredible exhale/ after taste. Foundation The wiseman Original might be comparable IMO.
This is one of the best examples of how incredible their leaf is. Even burn, long ash, medium body, deep chewy flavor not spicey. I highly recommend.
