From Americanvikingcigars.com, “Rico Barato is not a real person. We made him up. His name means Rico – ‘rich’ Barato – ‘cheap’. These are our econonmy cigar brand, and they have a very special place in our hearts. There was a long time when co-owner Tim Swanson could only afford sticks like these. Each stick is a mix of long filler with some short filler sprinkled in, making this a Cuban Sandwich. The drawback with these affordable cigars is that they burn a little faster, and have a pretty simple flavor profile. But we feel that these Connecticut sticks offer incredible consistency, construction, and flavor… especially for their shelf price.”

Great flavor and pleasant aroma. Best stick for the price.

Note: This stick is five stars for its class.
I’ve smoked almost 100 of these at this point, and it is the best cigar I have smoked in its class by far. It’s perfectly priced and the cigars are consistent. I had one that had a weird taste and had to be tossed out of about 100. That is unreal for this class of cigar. The taste is consistently pleasant, but not special. And that’s okay with me!
I bought a couple to try at first but I now buy these bad boys by the bundle every month.

For the price, you really can’t beat it. The Churchill was great to share with friends and the full bodied flavor was really great!

Fantastic, less pricey stick. The flavor and body seemed like it could be an eight dollar cigar. Will be getting this again.

Fantastic cheap smoke! Will definitely be purchasing more.

I wanted to love these. The ones I got tasted good at the start but burned crazily uneven and had a hard draw. I’m moving to a different economy brand.

Could not wait to try it. Yes I know should let them acclimate a bit but decided to give it a try. Its an excellent stick for the price point. It has a great pepper on retro and some nice dark chocolate notes. Its consistent thru the first 2/3 and a much stronger pepper on the last 1/3. Burnt pretty even with little touch up needed which was impressive. Definitely an EDS worth the diminutive cost. Thanks Tim for such a great product

I cannot stress it enough that this has to be one of my most favorite cigars. It’s got an amazing flavor, burns very evenly with little to no touch up, very good construction, and all for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Great job on this one guys.

VERY impressed so far with it. Was a little spongey on initial receipt, so I let it dry box for a day and the sponginess in the odd spots were gone. Def let them sit in the humidor or drybox depending on the feel. Overall, great construction, and awesome flavor! Def will buy more, can’t beat the price for flavor/quality ratio. My new sub 5 dollar go to for sure! (Speaking about the maudro churchill btw). Great work Tim and Co!
