From Gran Habano’s website: The Rico family history in tobacco stretches back to 1920, when Guillermo Rico’s grandfather began growing dark tobacco. His father succeeded him in 1946, and Guillermo recalls following him around the fields as a child and his mother rolling cigars at home. That legacy continues today in Gran Habano with a strong sense of family tradition embedded into every cigar made in Danlí, Honduras, where in 1998 the factory was established and became the birthplace of our premium cigars and the quintessential Gran Habano look.

It may look sweet, but it’s as rich and sultry as it’s candy apple red box portrays. The Gran Habano Corojo No. 5 is a full-bodied smoke with flavors of deep earth and coffee and other complexities that make this quite a unique smoke.

Love, love, love this stick! I won’t pretend to know the best way to describe the profile, but its a nice creamy and smooth smoke! I bought a “box” and have had 4 that I couldn’t get a draw on…at all. Those 4 are the reason I couldn’t give it a 5 star rating.

Really enjoyed this cigar. Surprisingly smooth. Lot’s of flavor with very little pepper and spice. Construction was excellent.

Perfect draw. Creamy full flavor. The wrapper looks and feels great. Just a little pepper on the retro. Paired with E&J XO brandy. Highly recommended!

It hits my flavors right. This was the 1st smoke that I could taste what people were talking about and it’s my go-to now.

This is a great daily driver. While it may not impress those looking for a stick that packs a punch it’s creaminess, subtle coffee and earth tones as well as super smooth retro make it a very pleasant and relaxed smoke.
I initially got one in a sampler pack, really liked it and just bought a box today taking advantage of the great CD Memorial day coupon.

I purchased this cigar because, really, nothing beats Honduran grown Corojo (think Aladino). I smoked a couple weeks back after having it sit in my humidor for a few months (at the suggestion of “The Katman”).
Biggest take away from this cigar was regarding the texture of the smoke, or really just how smokey it was. Thing was a chimney, not to mention the texture of the smoke was thick, almost chalky (I’ve experienced this texture with a lot of Honduran puro blends). Not only that, but there was an unmistakable flavor to the smoke that tastes like smoke itself, almost Peet like, maybe inherent to certain Mexican grown tobacco (as it reminded me very much of The Las Cabrillas). None of this is to say that it was a detriment to the cigar, but time and place. If I were to do it again, I would try to smoke the cigar at a higher humidity, or in other words I believe this cigar would excel in a more humid environment, as mine is Mediterranean (CA). This cigar would whoop my ass if I smoked it in Arizona for example. That being said, there was also a slight Honduran terroir of baking spice, a liiiiitle bit of tootsie roll from the Corojo (not as much as I’d assume) and throughout the 2nd third a whole lot of walnut, which I love.
Draw was solid, burn a little wonky but so be it. Would like to rebate this one given the right circumstance but overall, a solid 90.
