From My Father’s website, “La Promesa, ‘The Promise,’ refers to the promise made by company patriarch Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia to his family before leaving his native Cuba. He promised to prove himself, to make something of himself in the cigar world outside of Cuba. He promised to honor his family and his tobacco heritage. According to My Father, the company as it stands today with its farms in Nicaragua and factories in both Nicaragua and Miami is the fulfillment of that promise. My Father-La Promesa is covered in a dark, Ecuadoran Habano rosado oscuro wrapper, with binder and filler tobaccos from the Garcia family farms in Nicaragua.”

Really good cigar. It’s got that sweet dark citrusy maraschino cherry, a vibrant leather, theres some other fruit notes in it as well, a hint of dark chocolate, light coffee, oak, a touch of cinnamon spice, with a smooth retro hale. Just awesome! The My Father blends never dissatisfy.

Pepper, leather, oak, and a little cream. Had to keep touching up the burn otherwise this is a five star cigar.

The promise has certainly been fulfilled. Great smoke through and through. I’m not great at picking up flavor notes but the flavors that are there are extremely well balanced and nuanced. Not too heavy, not too mild…just right. From a great cigar to beautiful packaging MF has hit a home run. My Father has hit more home runs than Barry Bonds on the juice and the La Promesa is no exception.
