The Rocky Patel Emerald stands out as our first box-pressed cigar designed to be on the lighter side of medium-bodied. As Rocky Patel himself notes, “It’s the first box-pressed cigar we’ve released that’s on the light side of medium. Most of our box-pressed cigars are medium to full.”
Crafted with precision, the Emerald features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper complemented by dual binders—one from Nicaragua and another from Mexico. The filler predominantly consists of Nicaraguan tobacco, with the addition of a single leaf from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras, enhancing its complexity. This combination results in a truly medium-bodied cigar, offering a harmonious balance of flavors.

I had high hopes for this cigar, but maybe I was sucked in by the beautiful green band and name. I found the stick to have a nutty flavor and was on the light to medium strength side. It did suffer from a hard draw and continually having to light it. I thought it was just me but my buddy said the same things about it. Oh well…maybe I’ll give it another shot. We will see.

Nothing 2 run home about but nothing to spark and throw after a couple pulls. It was not something I’d buy again as it was the same flavor the entire time. Dark, black pepper with the smallest notes of coffee. There very cool looking but did not meet the standard for me to consider a rebuy or a gift. Overall I think you should try it but there are many other great sticks at this price point. 3.7/10

I ordered a tenpack of the Emerald and was excited to try especially after a lot of the hubbub I’d heard and read. The cigar burnt okay with little issues. Ash was flaky and flavor wasn’t anything special in my opinion. I’ve had more sitting in humidor unwrapped so I’ll see if anything noticeable changes with a little rest given they traveled during 100° days. Packaging is nice for whatever that’s worth
