Perla Del Mar is one of the ol’ faithful cigar brands from J.C. Newman. These tasty little box-pressed cigars used to be a Cuban brand that is now made with premium quality Nicaraguan tobacco. They have a smooth oily Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, and a more than appropriate shelf price for the quality. You’ll always get more than you pay for, and this cigar received a 91 rating (source: Cigar Authority).

This being one if the first cigars I’ve smoked, it has a special place in my humidor and I keep a few at all times. It’s light and good for the morning with coffee, and has good wood notes with it. It’s a box-pressed, so be prepared to touch it up here and there. All in all, it’s a great cigar, and one of recommend to anyone just getting started in smoking cigars.

I prefer connecticuts with a light, sweeter taste, and this stick provides both of these flavors in spades. A personal favorite of mine, the Perla Del Mar “G” has a lovely creamy taste that remains grounded in wood notes throughout the duration of the smoke. The burn, while traditionally uneven given its box-pressed shape, usually doesn’t require much correcting. I always keep a healthy stock of PDMs lying around, and consistently come back to their one-of-a-kind flavor. Whether you’re a beginner like I was when I first stumbled upon this little gem, or you’re a hardened cigar-veteran, I’d recommend this stick to lovers of light-bodied cigars the world over.

For the money spent the flavor out performs, construction and burn is very good. Flavor is creamy and is an enjoyable smoke with a nice cup of coffee in the morning.
